A sympathetic ear has an effect: it releases chemicals that make you feel better

Research shows that a whopping 70% of absenteeism is about mental issues. And that the opportunity to open up can solve a lot of problems. For example, a sympathetic ear triggers your body to produce chemicals that make you feel better. That is why using a coach with whom the employee can blow off steam can work wonders.

The urge to talk

People inherently feel the urge to talk. Science actually suggests that most people prefer to be the speaker in a conversation. This is hardly surprising, because certain areas in the brain become more active, just like when you have sex, exercise hard or eat well. These activities release dopamine, a neurotransmitter that plays an important role in your sense of happiness.

Talking brings relief

Mental issues are not as noticeable as a broken leg. Nevertheless, it is important to take the signals seriously. When you're not feeling well, talking can bring relief. But who can you talk to? Even employees who have lots of friends or a close family may find it difficult to talk openly about feelings.

Putting the employee centre stage

A coach with whom you can spar anonymously and who is trained to focus on the employee's story can then offer a solution. Three to seven half-hour sessions are often sufficient to arrive at solutions. It prevents problems from piling up and causing employees to drop out.

Accessible

Many people still really struggle to ask for psychological help. That is why at One2Talk, we have made getting help as accessible as possible. In five simple steps, employees can make contact with a coach. Of course, it is important that they can remain anonymous. That is why the employer does not have access to the data or information about the interviews.
